16 Kolkata Film Festival

Spectators' view of 16 KFF

We are awaiting a bunch of bright and young film directors who may take a vow to create good films while watching Kolkata film festival this year, says Sri Buddhadeb Bhattacharyee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal during the inaugural ceremony of the 16th Kolkata Film Festival at Nandan-1 theatre this evening. Moments ago the renowned cinematographer Sri Ramananda Sengupta declares the fair open. Sri Soumendranath (Anjan) Bera, MOS of Information & Cultural Affairs, Sri Samar Ghosh, Chief Secretary, Sri Niloy Ghosh, Special Secretary of the I & CA department, Sri Mrinal Sen, Sri Tarun Mazumdar, Sri Soumitra Chatterjee also grace the occasion.
Of Love and Other Demons, a film of Costa Rica is screened first. The film lovers will get an opportunity to see the immortal creations of Akira Korusawa & Alain Resnais under centenary tribute & Honour categories. Some films based on the writings of Rabindranath Tagore will also be shown since the country has been observing the 150 years of Tagore’s birth. The much debated documentary film ‘Sikkim’ of Satyajit Ray may reveal itself in this fest. The fair will continue till November 17th this year.
