Book reading may resist our cultural decadence hopes Arambagh Book Fair

The sun is about to set, while the drops of winter falls off our mind, inauguration bell calls the book lovers of Arambagh sub-division in the playground of Arambagh High School where Hooghly district book fair is being held. Eminent Bengali novelist Abul Basar enkindles the lamp to get lights of knowledge to the children of wisdom this evening.

In a thought provoking speech Naren Dey, MIC, Agriculture & Consumer Affairs expresses his deep concern over the increasing addiction of young generation to audio-visual entertainment instead of book reading. Unless the trend is somehow changed, our cultural future will be gloomy in near future, he opines. Prof. Sudarshan Roy Chowdhury, MIC, Higher Education requests people to pass their leisure times with books while addressing the dignified audience assembled to view the opening ceremony of the Arambagh Book Fair jointly initiated by the Raja Rammohun Library Foundation and the department of Library Services of the Government of West Bengal.

Sitting on a nicely decorated stage where cut outs of the great poet Rabindranath Tagore and scientist Prafulla Chandra Roy are garlanded as a tribute to their 150 years of birth, Abul Basar reveals the dynamic personality of  Tagore which makes the listeners spell bound including Shakti Mohan Malik, MP; Binoy Dutta, MLA; Santasree Chatteree, Ex-MP; Mozammel Hosain, Karmadhakshya, Hooghly Zila Parishad; Gopal Kach, Chairman, Arambagh Municipality; Ashima Kundu, Sabhapati, Arambagh Panchayat Samity and others. A book of poems written with the mournful personal experience by Saraswati Bhin is unveiled here. Sub-divisional Magistrate Arindam Niyogi has also graced the occasion. Pradip Saha, Sabhadhipati, Hooghly Zila Parishad has presided over the entire ceremony.  

It being a holiday, the commoners already come here in good number and start purchasing books from the stalls like National Book Trust, National Book Agency, Sahitya Academy, Anima Prakshani, Ebong Mushaera,  Arambagh Times, Patra’s etc. In the evening of each date till 18 December, the visitors will experience many a good cultural programme presented mainly by the local artistes.

কিশোর মনের অনুভবে শেষ হল রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের জন্মের ১৫০ বছর স্মরণে আয়োজিত হুগলী জেলা শিশু-কিশোর উৎসব



রবীন্দ্রচর্চ্চা বেড়েছে, কিন্তু নিজেদের জীবনে তার প্রকাশ হচ্ছে কতটুকু - জরুরী এই প্রশ্নটি উদ্বোধনী ভাষণে শুধিয়েছিলেন জেলা সভাধিপতি প্রদীপ সাহা, গত ৬ ডিসেম্বর রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের জন্মের সার্ধশতবর্ষ স্মরণে চুঁচুড়া রবীন্দ্রভবনে আয়োজিত হুগলী জেলা শিশু-কিশোর উৎসবের আনন্দমঞ্চে। স্বাগত ভাষনে জেলা তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি আধিকারিক দেবীপ্রসাদ চট্টোপাধ্যায় এবং উপস্থিত তিন যশস্বী শিশু-সাহিত্যিক ননী মুখার্জী, কার্তিক ঘোষ ও দিলীপ বাগের ভাষনেও অনুরণিত হল সেই সুর। বাকী দু'দিন ধরে জেলার সকল প্রান্ত থেকে আগত প্রায় দুই শতাধিক শিশু ও কিশোর-কিশোরীরা সেই প্রশ্নে ভাবিত হয়ে মেলে ধরলেন নিজেদেরকে। কবির প্রতিকৃতি বসে আঁকা সহ আবৃত্তি, সঙ্গীত, নৃত্যের চারটি পৃথক, পৃথক আঙ্গিকে 'ক' বিভাগে পাঁচ থেকে নয়  আর 'খ' বিভাগে নয়ের বেশী থেকে ষোলো বছর বয়স পর্যন্ত শিশু, কিশোর-কিশোরীরা প্রতিযোগিতাহীন সাংস্কৃতিক পরিমণ্ডলে বিকশিত করলেন তাঁরা রবীন্দ্রনাথকে নিয়ে কি ভাবছেন সেই সব।

আরামবাগ, শ্রীরামপুর, চন্দননগর, হুগলী সদর মহকুমার নামী বিদ্যালয় ও সাংস্কৃতিক প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে বিভাগপিছু একজন করে সর্ব্বোত্তম কুশলী এই উৎসবে যোগ দিয়েছিলেন। তাঁদের মধ্যে অনেকেরই রেওয়াজী কণ্ঠ মুগ্ধ করেছে উপস্থিত শ্রোতৃমণ্ডলীকে। নৃত্যের নিক্কনে স্পষ্টতই মূর্ত্ত হয়েছে রবীন্দ্রনৃত্যশৈলীর পেলবতার সঙ্গে ধ্রুপদীনৃত্যশৈলীর নিবিড় বিনিময়। প্রত্যেকে প্রংশসাপত্র দেওয়া হয়েছে। শুধু তাই নয়, প্রতিটি অংশগ্রহণকারীকে পূর্বনির্দিষ্ট হারে রাহা খরচ দেওয়া হয়েছে। 



পরিবেশনকারীদের মধ্য থেকে উপস্থিত গুণীজনদের মতামতের ভিত্তিতে বসে আঁকো-র 'ক' বিভাগ থেকে সৃজিতা দাস, 'খ' বিভাগ থেকে রুমিতা দত্ত; আবৃত্তির  'ক' বিভাগ থেকে রণিতা দাস, 'খ' বিভাগ থেকে সময়িতা রক্ষিত; সঙ্গীতের 'ক' বিভাগ থেকে বর্ষা দে, 'খ' বিভাগ থেকে সৃজনী ঘোষ এবং  নৃত্যের 'ক' বিভাগ থেকে স্নিদ্ধা দাস, 'খ' বিভাগ থেকে সহেলী রায় রাজ্য শিশু-কিশোর উৎসবে হুগলী জেলার প্রতিনিধিত্ব করবেন।





৬-৮ ডিসেম্বর- এই তিনটি দিনে  কচি-কাঁচারা সৃষ্টিশীল কলাপ্রদর্শনের মধ্য দিয়ে নিজেদের উৎকর্ষতা বাড়িয়ে নিতে পেরেছেন বলে শিক্ষক-অভিভাবকগণ ধন্যবাদ জানিয়েছেন এ হেন উদ্যোগের প্রতি। কিন্তু আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ 'বিশেষ চাহিদা সম্পন্ন' সেই সব শিশু-কিশোরদের কাছে, যাঁরা সূদুর আরামবাগ, রিষড়া থেকে পথশ্রমের অসীম কষ্ট উপেক্ষা করে অতি উচ্চমানের কলা পরিবেশনে ধন্য করেছেন আমাদের অন্তর্জগতকে।

Durgapur IT park reboots shinning Bengal

CM inaugurates IT Park

With land reforms and care for the marginal farmers we get landmark achievements in the field agriculture. Simultaneously, we are aiming to establish manufacturing units more. We have started comparatively late in the Information Technology sector to Hyderabad or Bangalore. But the skilled human resource of this state has been making it possible to reach a commendable position in the whole country in a short time says Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee while inaugurating the Durgapur IT park this morning. This dream project keeps rolling with a promise to ‘plug and play’ that will provide the necessary support to the small investors as well.

 The six storied flashy building near to city centre has a space of around 56142 sq.ft which promises to provide at least 600 direct job opportunities which will bear the scope of another 2400 jobs indirectly according to the statistics of NASSCOM since it calculates one IT job means four more employments ultimately.

Among the other dignitaries, Minister-in-Charge of IT & Bio-Technology Dr. Debesh Das, Mayor of Durgapur Municipal Corporation Rathin Roy, Principal Secretary of the IT & Bio-Technology Department Basudev Banerjee, District Magistrate Onkar Singh Meena also grace this august ceremony. After this, the commoners are looking forward to be with the Siliguri IT park which will be formally operative soon. And that is not the end. Bio-Technology is the next which may open the flood gates for job seekers in the days coming in no time.

রবীন্দ্রনাথের ভাঙা গানের সুরে মানুষকে বিভোর করে রাখলেন পাপিয়া চক্রবর্তীর পরিচালনায় বারুইপুর লাবণ্য সঙ্গীত শিক্ষা -নিকেতনের শিল্পীবৃন্দ।

রাজপুর-সোনারপুর পৌরসভার অন্তর্গত শহীদ দাশুমতি ভবন প্রেক্ষাগৃহে রাজ্যস্তরে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের সার্ধশত জন্মবর্ষ উদ্ যাপন কমিটি  এবং দক্ষিণ চব্বিশ পরগণা জেলা তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে সম্প্রতি আয়োজিত এক রবীন্দ্র-সন্ধ্যায় আবৃত্তি, রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীত, রবীন্দ্রনৃত্য, শ্রুতিনাটকে অংশ গ্রহণ করেন কলকাতা ও দক্ষিন চব্বিশ পরগণার বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে আগত প্রথিতযশা ও উদীয়মান কুশলীবৃন্দ। তাঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন গৌতম বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, টুম্পা রায়, নমিতা মজুমদার, সর্বাণী সান্যাল বৈদ্য, বিপ্লব ঘোষ, সুমনা মুখোপাধ্যায় প্রমুখ। রবীন্দ্রকবিতা আবৃত্তির এক   উপভোগ্য কোলাজ উপস্থাপন করেন স্তবক আবৃত্তি সংস্থা। ক্যানিং এর দিশারী নৃত্যমন্দির, বারুইপুরের নৃত্যাঙ্গন শিল্পীগোষ্ঠী, ফলতার সঙ্গীতচক্রের নিবেদন মানুষের মন কেড়েছে।সমীর চরিতের পরিচালনায় সোনারপুরের রূপসী বাংলা সাংস্কৃতিক চক্র যখন 'ঘরে-বাইরে' শ্রুতিনাটক পরিবেশন করছেন তখনও মুগ্ধ শ্রোতারা। সমগ্র অনুষ্ঠানটি সুন্দরভাবে সঞ্চালনা করেন নিমাই চন্দ্র মন্ডল এবং রুষা মিত্র।

আরামবাগে গ্রামীণ কর্মসংস্থান প্রকল্প চাঙ্গা করতে কর্মশালা করলেন মহকুমা শাসক

খেটে খাওয়া মানুষের আয় সুনিশ্চিত করতে সময়োচিত ব্যবস্থা নিল আরামবাগ মহকুমা প্রশাসন। মহাত্মা গান্ধী জাতীয় গ্রামীণ কর্মসংস্থান সুনিশ্চয়তা প্রকল্পের কাজ  প্রান্তিক মানুষের কাছে যাতে আরো বেশী করে পৌঁছয়, সেই উদ্দেশ্যে  আজ দুপুরে আরামবাগ রবীন্দ্রভবনে আয়োজিত এক কর্মশালায় মহকুমার ৬৩টি গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের প্রত্যেকটির প্রধান এবং দু'জন করে কর্মীকে পারস্পরিক আলোচনার মাধ্যমে উদ্দীপিত করা হয়।ঠিক হয় প্রথম পর্যায়ে অন্তত ৭৮ দিন কাজ দিতে হবে।কাজের জায়গায় শিশুদের দেখভাল করার প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা করতে হবে।এমনকি অস্পষ্টতা এড়াতে নির্দিষ্ট স্থানে সংক্ষিপ্ত বিবরণ সম্বলিত বোর্ড লাগাতেই হবে।সভায় ৬টি ব্লকের চারজন করে কর্মীকেও প্রশিক্ষন দেওয়া হয়।

কর্মশালায় প্রধানগণ নানা সুবিধা-অসুবিধার কথা তুলে ধরলে প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে বলে আন্তরিকভাবে জানিয়ে দেন নবাগত মহকুমা শাসক অরিন্দম নিয়োগী। অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জেলার সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভাগের নোডাল অফিসার, দুটি পঞ্চায়েত সমিতির সভাপতি, সহ-সভাপতিগণ, নির্বাহী আধিকারিকবৃন্দ এবং উপ শাসক ও উপ সমাহর্তাত্রয় শুভঙ্কর সরকার, গোপাল চন্দ্র রাণা ও সমীর কুমার দাস।

পরিবেশ বাঁচিয়ে চন্দননগর আমোদিত করল জগদ্ধাত্রী উৎসব

প্রতিমা - কথাটা নাকি এসেছে 'প্রতিম' থেকে। মানে অনুরূপ। অন্তত, ভাববাদীরা অনেকেই তা বলেন।সাধকের চিত্তে উপাস্যের যে রূপ ভেসে আসে, তারই প্রকাশ নাকি প্রতিমা। সে রূপে কখনও তিনি দুর্গা, কখনও কালী, কখনও বা জগদ্ধাত্রী। সবাই যে একথা মানেন,তা নয়। কিন্তু ভাবের বাইরে পূজাকে ঘিরে সামাজিক ভাবে যে আনন্দধারা বয়, তার অনন্য নজির রেখে চলেছে হুগলীর  চন্দননগর। যা একদা ফরাসীদের উপনিবেশ ছিল।কলকাতার মতই এখানে আছে বড়বাজার, বাগবাজার, বৌবাজার ইত্যাদি। প্রতিবছর জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজোর সময় এলাকাটা উৎসবের চেহারা নেয়। 

এবার প্রায় ১৪২টি পুজো হয়েছে। বাগবাজার বারোয়ারি-র পুজো এবার ১৭৬ বছরে পড়ল বলে আয়োজকদের দাবি। লক্ষীগঞ্জের চাউলপট্টীর পুজার কৌলিন্যে অমলিন। বাগবাজার, ফটকগোড়া, মধ্যাঞ্চল - সবখানেই থিমের নির্মান মানুষকে অবাক করে। অনিবার্যভাবে যেমন এসেছেন রবীন্দ্রনাথ, তেমনই অতল সমুদ্রের গহন উঠে এসেছে স্থলের মণ্ডপে। পথে, পথে চন্দননগরের ভুবনজয়ী আলোকমালা। কিংবদন্তী আলোকশিল্পী শ্রীধর দাসের উত্তরসূরীরাও পাল্লা দিয়েছেন সমানে।

বাড়ির পুজোগুলোও স্নিগ্ধতায় টানে।দশমীর দিনে সারি দিয়ে পথ পরিক্রমা শেষে বাড়ির পূজাগুলির নিরঞ্জন হলেও বেশীরভাগ বারোয়ারী উদ্যোগের প্রতিমা আবার মন্ডপে ফিরে আসে। পরদিন সকালে হবে বিসর্জন।আর সেখানেই বিশিষ্টতা চন্দননগরের। গঙ্গা যাতে নতুন করে দূষিত না হয়, গত কয়েক বছর ধরে সে কথা মনে রাখছেন সকলে। জলে নিমজ্জিত হবার পর, কাঠামো, খড়, প্রতিমার উপকরন- সবই তুলে আনা হচ্ছে জল থেকে। তুলে এনে, সেই কাঠামোয় পুজো চলে সারা বছর।

এবার পরিবেশপ্রেমীরা সবাইকে সহমত করাতে পেরেছেন অনন্য আরেকটি বিষয়ে। শিল্পীরা এবার প্রতিমা রং করেছেন 'লেড ফ্রি' বা সীসা রহিত রং দিয়ে। ফলে পরিবেশ রক্ষায় আরেকটি নজির হল।

এত বিশাল আয়োজনে প্রশাসন ছিল জাগ্রত এবং সংহত। মহকুমা প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে আরক্ষা, অগ্নি নির্বাপন দপ্তর ছিল অতন্দ্র।প্রশাসনিক দক্ষতার কথা ফিরেছে মানুষের মুখে। ফ্রেঞ্চ ইন্সটিটিউটে হুগলী জেলা পরিষদ, জেলা গ্রামোন্নয়ন দপ্তর এবং মহকুমা তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দপ্তরের ব্যবস্থাপনায় আয়োজিত রবীন্দ্রনাথের পল্লীচিন্তা বিষয়ক প্রদর্শনী দেখতে দেখতে মুগ্ধ মানুষের আলোচনায় উঠে এসেছে সে কথা।

Arambagh High School tops in Hooghly District

In Hooghly District Youth Parliament Competition, Arambagh High School proved again its quality by securing the first position yesterday while Hooghly Girls' High School stood second. Sri Debayan Mandal, a student of class Xl of Arambagh High School got the award of the best Speaker. The winning team will paricipate in the state level competition at Yuva Bharati Krirangan ( Salt Lake Satidium) in the second week of December this year, the sources said.

Elocution with a blend of logical information gets the audience to the virtual reality of our parliamentary system this afternoon when the Arambagh High School bags the best award in Youth parliament competition organized by the office of the Additional District Inspector of Schools (Secondary) as part of the Youth Parliament & Quiz programme of the West Bengal Parliamentary Affairs Department. Seven winning teams from each Block namely Arambagh, Pursurah, Khanakul-I & ll, Goghat – l &ll and one from Arambagh Municipality take part in to the youth parliament  competition. Krishnabhabini Girls’ High School of Khanakul stands second. The presentations, modalities of the parliament are rightly imitated by the students by keeping their originality too.

In Quiz Competition, 14 teams comprising of the best and the runners up teams from each block and municipality join to get the crown. Sri Debdip Sarkar and Sri Suman Mandal both the students of class x of Arambagh High School again secure the top position while Debiprasad Bhakta and Barnali Modak of Kailash Chandra Sadhukhan High School near Ankri Srirampur get the second position. The Sub-divisional Information & Cultural Officer performs the role of Quiz Master.

 In the evening the winners along with the other participants are honoured with the trophy  by Smt. Manika Bagchi, ADI (Secondary), Sri Shibprasad Malik, Ex-MLA, Prof. Pranab kumar Dalal, eminent educationist, Sri Basudev Nandi, Assistant Inspector of Schools.

Hundreds of students, guardians and teachers from different educational institutions have enjoyed this day long programme. The winners will participate in the district level competition on 13 Nov 2010 at Chinsurah Municipality Hall (Near Pipulpati) from 10.30 a.m onwards.

16 Kolkata Film Festival

Spectators' view of 16 KFF

We are awaiting a bunch of bright and young film directors who may take a vow to create good films while watching Kolkata film festival this year, says Sri Buddhadeb Bhattacharyee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal during the inaugural ceremony of the 16^th Kolkata Film Festival at Nandan-1 theatre this evening. Moments ago the renowned cinematographer Sri Ramananda Sengupta declares the fair open. Sri Soumendranath (Anjan) Bera, MOS of Information & Cultural Affairs, Sri Samar Ghosh, Chief Secretary, Sri Niloy Ghosh, Special Secretary of the I & CA department, Sri Mrinal Sen, Sri Tarun Mazumdar, Sri Soumitra Chatterjee also grace the occasion.

Of Love and Other Demons, a film of Costa Rica is screened first. The film lovers will get an opportunity to see the immortal creations of Akira Korusawa & Alain Resnais under centenary tribute & Honour categories. Some films based on the writings of Rabindranath Tagore will also be shown since the country has been observing the 150 years of Tagore’s birth. The much debated documentary film ‘Sikkim’ of Satyajit Ray may reveal itself in this fest. The fair will continue till November 17^th this year.

Hooghly district Sishu - Kishore Utsab- 2010 will be held at Rabindra Bhawan, Chinsurah from 06 to 08 December 2010 in commemoration of the 150 birthday of the poet Rabindranath Tagore. Office of the District Information & Cultural Officer, Hooghly  will organize it as part of the cultural initiative taken by the Sishu-Kishore Academy of  Information & Cultural Affairs Department, West Bengal.

There are two groups-

Farmer turned Industrialist

Festive season is on. Festival of Lights will illuminate our houses soon. And with the passage of time, it will land in memory. But some lights will never be put out, especially when it gets the rays of hope to others forever.

Way back to those days when the low marshy land of Dhanyaghori village of Arambagh sub division sometimes got under water while the harvest was about to be ripen. Thousands of people including laborers had been out of work. There was no work and therefore nothing went normal in day to day life. Education to children was a mirage. Women and aged elders were hardly cared for. The poor were blaming to their destiny.

But light came. Yes, in one’s mind. A farmer of around 35 years of age suddenly realized that he had to do something. His name is Sagar Pramanik son of late Panchanan Pramanik. He left home to join an NGO namely ‘Sadhina’ where training was given to helpless women to make them stand in their own feet. Initially he helped the management of this small but noble organization. Gradually he developed the skills and made some handcraft items by using Bamboo tree. He learnt that Bamboo made flower vas of Tripura had a good market. So, he started participating in the different fairs of Bhubaneswar, Sargachhi (Murshidabad), Bethuadhari etc. Before that, he earned just 100 rupees from his participation in the Ghatal Utsab –O- Sishumela. After five years he bagged 100000( yes, one lakh) from a single fair. Now, there was no about turn. He keeps moving on.

At present he prepared hand woven jute carpets, table mats etc. It has a huge market and that has been expanding rapidly with eco-awareness campaigning. Besides, raw jute is easily available from local farmers. He gets technical helps from Jute Corporation of India. He gives training and gets finished products from at least 200 families who are either working in his factory or in their own house. Women earn good wages even after discharging their household duties. Mr. Pramanik tells that his products are also exported. It helps local people to get work and at the same time jute is used in a financially sound way.

Experience says that many a people came and asked for bank loans. When they were asked whether they had had the adequate knowledge in the respective fields, they maintained silence. There are lot of scopes to get financial aid under ‘Atmasamman’ , ‘Atmamaryada’, USKP (Udiyaman Karma Sangsthan Prakalpa) initiatives of the State Govt. Even the IDO ( Industrial Development Officer) of each Block is ready to promote schemes under DIC (District Industries Centre), and Khadi & Village Industries, only a few people are found properly self trained and psychologically ready to win over their destiny.

বেড়াতে আসুন খানাকুল

ভারতের বহু জায়গা ভ্রমণপ্রিয় মানুষকে বারে বারে টেনে আনে। কেউ আসেন আধ্যাত্মিক ভাবনায় ভাবিত হয়ে, কেউবা শুধুই অজানাকে জানার আনন্দে। উদ্দেশ্য যাই হোক, পথবিলাসী মানুষদের চরণচিহ্ণ পড়তে পড়তে এক একটি স্থান বিখ্যাত হয়ে

ওঠে। আজ আপনাদের নিয়ে যাব আরামবাগ মহকুমার খানাকুলে। আরো নির্দিষ্ট করে বললে, কৃষ্ণনগরে।কথিত আছে এটি একটি শক্তিপীঠ। "কাব্য মীমাংসা"য় রত্নাবলী বলে যে জায়গার কথা উল্লেখ আছে, তা সম্ভবতঃ খানাকুলের কৃষ্ণনগর গ্রাম। কারন এর পাশ দিয়ে একদা যে রত্নাকর নদী বয়ে যেত, আজ তা কানানদী নাম নিয়ে অদূরে বয়ে চলেছে।এখানে নাকি সতীর ডান কাঁধ পতিত হয়েছিল। এর সত্যতা নির্নয় করা আজ প্রায় অসম্ভব।ভারতচন্দ্রের মতে এখানকার দেবীর নাম শিবা এবং ভৈরবের নাম কুমার। পীঠনির্ণয়ে বলা হয়েছে দেবীর নাম কুমারী আর ভৈরব শিব। সন্ধ্যায় গিয়ে দেখলাম দেবী অন্ধকারে থাকতে চান। পুরোহিত বল্লেন মন্দিরের ভিতরে বৈদ্যুতিন আলো দেবার অনুমতি নেই। শ্মশানের বুকে বিরাজিত দেবীর ছবি তুললাম মোমের আলোয়।সারা বছর ধরে অগণণ মানুষ আসেন এখানে।

কয়েক হাত দূরে আছেন দেবীর ভৈরব শিব। ঘন্টেশর নামে খ্যাত। এই বিজ্ঞানের যুগেও শত শত মানুষ আসেন টিউমার সারানোর মানত নিয়ে। উপাচারটিও চমকপ্রদ। নারিকেল। চিরকালীন বেলপাতার বদলে নারিকেল। লোকসংস্কৃতির গবেষকরা ভেবে দেখতে পারেন। যাই হোক, চৈত্রের গাজনে এখানে মেলা বসে। স্থানীয় মানুষ জানালেন, এখানে শিবের জনপ্রিয়তা বেশী।

পুরাণের গল্পের প্রামান্যতা পাওয়া কঠিন হলেও ইতিহাস বলে অদূরের রাধানগর গ্রাম নাকি তন্ত্র সাধানার জন্য বিখ্যাত। কৃষ্ণানন্দ আগমবাগীশ নাকি এখানেই কালী পূজা করেছিলেন। আর ক'দিন পরে বঙ্গদেশে যে কালী পূজা হবে, শোনা যায় তার জনপ্রিয়তা নাকি তাঁর হাত ধরে ঘটেছিল।

আর রাধানগর গ্রাম আরেকটি ঐতিহাসিক কারনে বিখ্যাত। ঠিক ধরেছেন, রাজা রামমোহন রায়ের জন্মস্থান।সে কথা্‌ , আরেকদিন। যেতে ইচ্ছে হচ্ছে ? তবে বেরিয়ে পড়ুন। হাওড়া থেকে ট্রেনে তারকে'শর। সেখান থেকে গড়েরঘাট গামী বাসে রামনগর মোড়ে নেমে একটু হাঁটুন।অথবা ডানকুনি থেকে চন্ডীতলা - চাঁপাডাঙ্গা হয়ে মায়াপুর মোড় থেকে মাত্র ১৪ কি,মি।
